Convenience Store and Post Office in Shrewsbury sold to new owners

Londis convenience store and post office in Worthen, Shrewsbury, has been successfully sold to new owners. The final consideration was £330,000 plus stock at value for the business and freehold property which also includes a 3 bed cottage.

The business, which generates a turnover in excess of £500,000 annually, stocks a wide range of convenience items, garden products and animal feeds as well as housing a post office facility.

The store is located in the village of Worthen, with a number of surrounding villages within the direct catchment area of the business, which lies just a short drive from the Anglo/Welsh border.

The business was brought to the market by Knightsbridge due to the outgoing owner’s intentions to retire after running the business for over 15 years.

The buyer, Mr John Perks, was one of a number of interested parties which resulted in multiple bids for the business.

Knightsbridge announces sale of Burnage Lane Post Office

This long established business has seen significant changes in the last few years with a full scheme of refurbishment to both the ground floor shop and the accommodation above. The double counter sub Post Office and convenience store offers a range of goods including general groceries, dairy produce, stationery, greetings cards, Lottery, an external cash machine and Pay Station etc.

Located just a few miles from the centre of Manchester, the business serves the local community and benefits from a good amount of trade from passersby which generates high volumes of repeat custom.

Our client worked in the business full time, assisted by two other members of staff but wished to pursue a sale in order to concentrate on other business interests.

West Yorkshire based Post Office successfully sold by Knightsbridge

This well established Post Office based in West Yorkshire has been under the ownership of our clients for 21 years and was reluctantly placed onto the market due to our clients’ family commitments. As well as providing vital Post office services the business also provides a range of sundry items and confectionary. As well as being well presented throughout it has the added benefit of rental income received from the remainder of the property which includes three-bedroom accommodation, a two-bedroom flat and a hair salon.

Situated in the picturesque town of Wakefield, the premises are located on a main route to the M62, with easy access to Leeds, Bradford, Huddersfield and the popular Yorkshire Dales. The business is surrounded by mainly residential properties from which it draws much of its trade and benefits from complementary custom from the hair salon next door and fish and chip shop on the other side of the property. Knightsbridge Business Sales announces sale of Eastwood Post Office

Occupying an enviable location which sees a high volume of passing traffic throughout the day and high levels of footfall from a number of other retailers in the local vicinity, Eastwood Post Office boasts a fully refurbished shop with number of other products to complement the Post Office services.

Owing to its location on a busy through road, the shop has a good commanding of local residents who live close by, and utilise the Post Office services on a frequent basis. The prominence of eBay and other auction websites means that increasing levels of regular custom comes from more and more people selling items from home and using the shop’s postal services.

Sold in February 2014 to private buyer Mr. Ali, the business was offered for sale due to our clients need to concentrate on business interests elsewhere and the new buyer may consider the scope to expand the retail offering and introduce further products to increase sales.

Established for over 40 years, and having been in the hands of our client for 5 years, the business provides a vital Post Office counter service to local residents, and also sells a full range of convenience goods, alcohol and tobacco. 

Well located, and offering off road parking, the business offered plenty of scope for development. The vendor, wishing to exit the business to focus on other business interests, was pleased with the high levels of interest achieved by Knightsbridge, including 4 offers and 15 viewings. 

The buyers, Mr and Mrs Pratt, were keen to take advantage of the superb trading position and low rent, and in a sale handled by senior negotiator Leanne Boulding of Knightsbridge, they acquired the business in November 2012, intending to work in the business on a full time basis. Merseyside based Post Office Sold by Knightsbridge


Rainhill Post Office based in Prescot, Merseyside, has been sold by Knightsbridge for £75,000 to private buyer Alison Skarratts, who will work in the business on a full time basis. 

Owned by our clients for 23 years, they wished to retire, and were therefore pleased when the deal was completed in September 2012, just over 6 months after being on the market. Boasting an excellent trading position, with high passing trade, and plenty of scope to increase on this, it attracted good levels of interest, receiving an offer within only 2 months of being on the market.

Otley Post Office Sold by Knightsbridge


Established in 2001, Otley Post Office offers a very high Post Office Salary, with low rent, situated in an affluent area. It is therefore no surprise that whilst on the market with Knightsbridge, the business attracted a very high level of viewings, and multiple offers, resulting in a sale for £118,000 in September 2012, to buyers Martin and Pearl Goldthorpe. 

The sale will allow our clients to relocate, and Martin will take over the full time running of the business, with all existing staff to remain with the business. 

North Tidworth Post Office Sold by Knightsbridge

North Tidworth Post Office in Wiltshire has been sold for £225,000 by Knightsbridge. This popular business, established over 50 years, attracted a good level of interest throughout its time on the market. 

The deal completed in August 2012, to buyer Mrs Gabriello who will work in the business alongside the other existing staff, and is looking forward to seeing trading increase. Samantha Wright negotiated the sale, and would like to wish our client a very happy retirement.

Waddicar Lane Post Office in Melling, Liverpool has been purchased by Martin McColls for £390,000. The large freehold premises was offered for sale by our client due to their pending retirement. The business attracted significant interest before being purchased by Martin McColls.

Martin McColls is the UK's leading neighbourhood retailing group with over 1250 stores.

Wolverhampton Road Post Office Sold


Knightsbridge have successfully completed the sale of a well established post office in Wolverhampton. Established in the 1950’s the business has enjoyed many years of successful trading and was only sold due to the retirement of our client.
The new owner, Mrs Kaur is planning on working in the business full time having successfully completed the Post Office interview.

St Helens Post Office sold to new owners


Knightsbridge have agreed the sale of Clinkham Wod Post Office to new owners following interest from a number of parties. The Post Office which had been operated by John Ashurst since 1992 has two Post Office counters and offers additional retail income through the sales of greetings cards and stationary.

Mr Ashurst, the outgoing vendor supplied Knightsbridge with the following testimonial:
